On the last day of our short holiday to Cornwall we went to Lands End, around 25 minutes away from Penzance.
Land’s End is mainland Britain’s most south-westerly point and one of the country’s most famous landmarks. From the 200 foot high granite cliffs that rise out of the Atlantic Ocean you can gaze across to the Longships Lighthouse, the Isles of Scilly twenty eight miles away and beyond that, North America.
After seeing the famous signpost and taking some nice pictures there, we walked around the beautiful sights, had something to eat at The Land’s End Restaurant, with it’s contemporary look over the Atlantic Ocean and then went to The West Country Shopping Village and First and Last House from where we bought some lovely souvenirs.
Land’s End is the legendary Cornish destination that has inspired people since ancient Greek times when it was referred to as ‘Belerion’ – place of the sun.
See you next time !
